The important thing is to participate, this has always been the “ethical” motto of every race. The one for the Pug, the general urban plan of Messina, heir of the old master plan, is not a competition, but certainly a challenge, because at stake is the future vision of the city, there are choices that must not be made in order not to repeat macroscopic errors committed in the past, starting from the last Variation (and the too many, deleterious amendments) still in force, which opened the doors, between the end of the nineties and the beginning of the 2000s, to a unstoppable and fruitless building speculation.
Participation is the key word in this still embryonic phase of growth and training of the Pug, yet it does not yet seem to be making inroads in the city. Last February, shortly before leaving Palazzo Zanca, the first Basile council had launched the general guidelines of the Plan, a sort of urban planning manifesto which, however, as required by law, postponed every detail to subsequent steps.
