«The ghosts of differentiated autonomy return and with it the concrete threat of permanent inequalities between the areas of our country. This is why it is right to support the popular petition promoted by the Defend the Constitution Committee and the NO AD regional table (No to differentiated autonomy) against the pre-agreements of this dangerous reform which will split Italy”. This was stated by MP Anna Laura Orrico, Calabrian coordinator of the 5 Star Movement.

«The proposal – says Orrico – supported by political forces, such as the M5s, trade unions and social forces, requests the suspension of the procedure for the approval of the pre-agreements currently underway, inviting President Occhiuto to challenge them before the Constitutional Court. On the other hand, the regional council group of the Movement has worked on a motion, first signed by colleague Elisabetta Barbuto, which insists on these very same issues and which has already been deposited. In all of this – continues the five-star exponent -, the government is approving these agreements by choosing on the one hand to penalize some territories like ours as it abandons public healthcare to the unfair competition between richer regions and other endemically fragile ones, while on the other hand it is forcing itself because, first, it has neither determined and financed the Essential Levels of Services nor established the Equalization Fund provided for by Article 119 of the Constitution. Unfortunately – concludes Orrico – the democratic stability of our Republic as we know it is at risk. We therefore invite Calabrian citizens to sign the petition, also online, and ask President Occhiuto once again to defend his community.”
