Session full of twists and turns in the last Council. The administration led by mayor Giuseppe Fontana received the approval of the 2025 consolidated budget thanks to the votes of the majority alone, while a tense clash took place among the benches over compliance with regulations and procedures. What heated things up at the start of the session was the approval of the consolidated budget for the 2025 financial year. The opposition councilor Raffaele Sainato raised a procedural exception, supported by the councilors Ugo Passafaro and Eliseo Sorbara: «The approval of the consolidated budget, as required by article 136 of the accounting regulations, must be made available to the councilors for 20 days. This filing did not occur, so the resolution could not be voted on. As usual, the majority moves forward by force: we will present our complaints directly to the Prefecture.” The response of the budget councilor Bruno Iorfida was ready, who downplayed the case by defending the regularity of the works: «Since this is a resolution not to prepare the consolidated budget, the rules aimed at the ordinary filing of documents are followed. The 20 day rule applies only in the case of joint approval with the management report.” The document was finally approved with 10 votes in favour, 3 against and 1 abstention by the mixed group.
