Having read the answer to his question, the regional councilor of the Democratic Party and former mayor of Palmi, Giuseppe Ranuccio, has no doubts: «The documents tell a much less exciting reality than the one we are told every day».
The battleground is Reggio airport, specifically the cuts to international routes expected by Ryanair, which will maintain the direct connection only with Barcelona (over the years, Berlin, Brussels, Frankfurt, Katowice, London, Manchester, Marseille, Paris and Tirana have disappeared). Cards in hand, Ranuccio explodes on social media before even doing so at Palazzo Campanella: «The Region says it doesn’t know the reasons why Ryanair canceled the international routes. He says he has received no official communications from Sacal or the company. And when we ask what the strategy for the future is, he talks to us about the general promotion of the “Destination Calabria”, without indicating a specific project for the international development of the “Tito Minniti”. Even on Ita Airways the answer is clear: there are no specific institutional initiatives.”
