Jannik Sinner will not play the ATP 500 tournament in Beijing due to continuing knee problems: he announced it himself with a video in English on social media. «Hello everyone, I’m Jannik. I want to send a warm greeting to the Chinese fans”, declared the Italian number one in the world who has been out of action since 12 July, “I am very sorry to announce that this year I will not be able to play in Beijing. My knee is still not in the condition I would like it to be and I’m not ready to compete yet. But I will do everything I can to get back on the field as soon as possible.”
Sinner bid farewell to the Chinese public for their forced absence from the tournament which will begin on September 30: «What I miss most is naturally the tournament, the fans and the atmosphere. In past years I’ve had a really great time here and I even won the title last year. I’m very disappointed that I can’t defend it this year, but I’m happy to be able to come back next year. I wish everyone a great tournament and I’ll see you back on the pitch very soon. Bye bye”.
