The Court of Review of Catanzaro, in accepting an appeal by lawyers Giuseppe Orecchio and Francesco Lione, annulled the precautionary measure in prison against Antonio Manco, 55 years old, from Vibo Valentia, accused of having fired several gunshots at GI, 60 years old, resident in Vibo on 28 August. The victim managed to save himself by first getting out of the car and then hiding behind the car to finally make his way out in the Affaccio district of Vibo, in via Papa Giovanni XXIII.
The exception raised by the lawyers Lyone and Orecchio concerned the unusability of a video – due to late filing by the Vibo Prosecutor’s Office at the Review Court – which had filmed the shooting. The charge against Antonio Manco is that of attempted murder by exploding eight shots from a 7.65 caliber pistol at eye level at the victim. The injured man suffered serious injuries such as a wound on his right foot, a wound on his thigh and other wounds on his toes. The Prosecutor’s Office also contests against Antonio Manco the crimes of illegal and aggravated possession of a firearm and carrying a 7.65 caliber pistol in a public place.
During the interrogation before the investigating judge, Antonio Manco had denied having made himself unavailable in the immediate circumstances, reporting that he had thrown the gun into the sea immediately after the shooting for which he assumed responsibility. He then denied intending to kill but that he had shot to intimidate the victim.
