“We won even if everyone gave us difficulty, and for me only the facts count.” Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani, in an interview with The Pressclaims the result of the by-elections in Calabria and attacks Vannacci. «The center-right has demonstrated that it knows how to win independently, with a result exceeding all expectations. It was Vannacci who ran against us and tried to make us lose, there’s not much else to add”, says Tajani. “The much-invoked useful vote was for our coalition, useful for defeating the left.”
The result in Calabria and the choice of Roscioli
The minister points the finger at Futuro Nazionale: «He sided against us, attacked and insulted us, saying that it would be our Saxony. In the end it was theirs.” Tajani then defends the choice of Roscioli, «made with seriousness, involving a credible candidate, a lawyer who can be useful to Calabria at this stage thanks to his relationships in Rome».
On the government’s action, he adds: «Let’s continue until the end. We take the measures because they are right, not because they are electoral. We are consistent. The truth is that the opposition was stunned because we were able to concretely help the citizens.” A passage also concerns the Regeni case: «We will evaluate the cards later, but with Regeni we have always done what was needed».
Forza Italia and the relationship with the Berlusconi family
The secretary of Forza Italia also claims the party’s performance: «Since I have been secretary, FI has won in all electoral events and has always increased its consensus. The door is open, there are conferences and anyone can apply.” As for the Berlusconi family, Tajani underlines that «they are always close to us even if there are those who sow discord. Their support never fails, it is voluntary and not conditional on requests.” And he concludes: «FI also raises funds with members and entrepreneurs, because we are grateful but we are autonomous».
