They had reported him missing, but according to the prosecution he was killed and his body disappeared into the waters of the Tacina river. Two years after the disappearance of Salvatore Giglio, 69 years old, the carabinieri of Cutro’s company arrested his wife (Daniela Rossato, 60 years old) and his 28 year old son Nicola, considered seriously suspected, for various reasons, of murder and concealment of a corpse.
In the early hours of this morning, the soldiers of the Investigative Unit of the Operational Department of the Provincial Command, supported by the Carabinieri of the Crotone Company, carried out a precautionary custody order in prison issued by the investigating judge of the Court of Crotone, at the request of the local Public Prosecutor’s Office.

The story dates back to September 21, 2024, the day on which, according to the investigators’ reconstruction, the murder took place. A week later, on 28 September, the victim’s wife, then sixty years old, showed up at the Cutro Carabinieri station to report her husband’s disappearance.
From that moment, the investigations began coordinated by the Crotone Public Prosecutor’s Office, led by the chief prosecutor Domenico Guarascio, and continued until December 2025 through telephone and environmental interceptions, as well as numerous testimonies collected by the investigators. According to the accusation outlined by the investigators, mother and son allegedly participated in the killing of the 69-year-old, which took place in the vicinity of the house where the family lived, and then hid his body by throwing it into the Tacina river, in the Steccato di Cutro area.
The attempt to sidetrack the investigation
Despite searches, the body has not yet been found. During the investigations, the soldiers of the Scientific Investigations Group (RIS) and the Underwater Carabinieri of Messina also intervened, engaged in inspections and research activities aimed at recovering the body. Particularly significant, according to what emerges from the precautionary measure, was also the attempt to sidetrack the investigations. The investigators accuse the suspects of a series of conduct aimed at misleading the investigations: from the report of the disappearance presented several days after the alleged death, up to the attempts to eliminate any traces from the scene.
Among the elements collected by the investigators there would also be the purchase of several liters of bleach, which would have been used to clean the rooms, as well as alleged agreements between the family members on the versions to be provided to the investigators. During the investigations, conflicting statements emerged which were considered by the investigators to be mendacious, which contributed to outlining the circumstantial framework underlying the precautionary measure.
