The residential educational communities managed by Futura Società Cooperativa Sociale were inaugurated this morning in via Vincenzo Lattari in Sant’Onofrio. It is an educational community for minors aged 6 to 13 and an educational community for pre-adolescents and adolescents aged 14 to 21.
The ceremony was attended by Carmelo Disì, president of Futura SCS; Pasqualina Straface, Councilor for Welfare and Social Policies of the Calabria Region; the Regional Councilor the Hon. Giampaolo Bevilacqua; Michele Pontoriero, representing the Prefecture of Vibo Valentia; Massimo Barbieri, representing the Juvenile Court of Catanzaro; Domenico Boninsegna, representing the Regional Council of the Order of Social Workers (CROAS) of Calabria; Enzo Romeo, mayor of Vibo Valentia, leading municipality of the Social Territorial Area n. 1; Lorenza Scrugli, councilor for social policies of the Municipality of Vibo Valentia; Carla Montesanti, manager of the Social Services Sector of the Municipality of Vibo Valentia, and members of the ATS Planning Office.
During the morning, given the impossibility of attending due to institutional commitments, formal greetings also arrived from the Regional Councilor Vito Pitaro and Angelo Brutto, president of the Third Regional Council Commission responsible for social policies, expressing their desire to come as soon as possible to view the spaces and get to know the educational project of the two Communities up close.
The two structures have completed the entire path required by Regional Regulation no. 22/2019 and subsequent amendments. In April, after checks by the Area Commission, the definitive authorization for operation was issued. Accreditation arrived in July, with registration in the regional register: 9 places for the 6-13 year old community and 12 places for the 14-21 year old community. The area of the Area is thus equipped with 21 new accredited residential places intended for minors.
The participants shared a common opinion. The efforts that Third Sector organizations support to create structures like these, in terms of both human energy and economic resources, find full reward in the result: beautiful, welcoming and comfortable environments. Together with the work of the multidisciplinary team, these spaces will be a protected place and, at the same time, a place of restart for children and young people who, for a period of their lives, will have to be separated from their family unit.
The communities guarantee 24-hour residential reception. The activities include scholastic support, workshops, sports activities, psychological support and education on civil coexistence. Each path is built through an Individualized Educational Project, shared with the sending Social Services and, where possible, with the families.
The inauguration confirms the value of collaboration between institutions and the Third Sector in the construction of a territorial network capable of offering listening, support and concrete opportunities to minors in difficulty.
