Over 59 million euros from MIT for the modernization and safety of the Sila Greca aqueduct. Also considering the co-financing of the beneficiary, the overall value – explains a note from the ministry – of the intervention exceeds 73 million euros. The work concerns the modernization of the infrastructure and the stabilization of the water supply of the Sila Greca system and represents the first of four interventions planned on the broader Abatemarco-Bufalo-Sila Greca system, essential infrastructure for the drinking water supply of 47 municipalities in the province of Cosenza.

The system also includes the Trionto drinking water purification plant, in Longobucco, which ensures a significant part of the water destined for numerous municipalities in Sila Greca. The Vice President of the Council and Minister of Transport, Matteo Salvini, underlined the importance of the goal “reached particularly quickly and of an investment which intervenes on one of the strategic water infrastructures of the Cosentino and aims to give greater stability and continuity to the supply of dozens of municipalities”. The resources fall within the PNRR Water Fund, the entire allocation of which was assigned by the MIT together with Invitalia, the Fund’s manager, in less than four months.
