In the episode of “Linea Verde Italia”, broadcast on Rai 1 on Saturday 3 October at 12.25pm, Monica Caradonna and Tinto will accompany the public to Reggio Calabria, on a journey summed up in one word: “cangiari”, which in the Reggio dialect means “to change”. The conductors from the Arena dello Stretto will arrive at the coast of Melito di Porto Salvo, a territory crossed by peoples, languages and routes for millennia. They will discover underwater archeology and the masterpieces found, such as the famous Riace Bronzes kept at the National Archaeological Museum, where technology is put at the service of conservation to protect two masterpieces as precious as they are fragile and deliver them to the future. The journey will then stop at the heights of Pentimele, the ancient fortifications created to defend the Strait which today become privileged observation points for the migrations of birds between Africa and Europe.
Finally, they will arrive in Scilla to introduce the public to two ancient craftsmanship processes: those of the shipwrights, pride of the local shipbuilding industry, and lutherie, linked to the tradition of the battente guitar, an instrument symbolizing the popular music of southern Italy. The episode was created in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture – Department for Cultural Activities.
