He had barricaded himself in his apartment in the city center of Reggio after expressing his intention to take his own life. It was her sister who asked for help, contacting the operations room of the State Police, triggering the intervention of the agents of the General Prevention and Public Rescue Office.

Arriving within minutes, the police found the entrance to the house blocked by furniture and heavy objects. The man, in an evident state of agitation, threatened to harm himself if the officers tried to reach him. One of the operators then started a dialogue, trying to reassure him and bring the situation back to calm. After several attempts, the man partially opened the door, allowing the police to enter and secure it. Once he found greater peace of mind, he voluntarily accepted the assistance of healthcare personnel and was accompanied to the hospital to receive the necessary treatment.
