Prestigious success for Messina sailing. Riccardo Billè, a young athlete of the Italian Naval League Sports Group – Messina Section, became Italian Champion in the Waszp 7.5 class, winning at the end of the Youth Foil Class Championship held in Malcesine, on Lake Garda.
A victory of great value, achieved at the end of a particularly demanding competition, characterized by variable weather conditions and the presence of opponents of the highest technical level. The national title remained in the balance until the last of the ten scheduled races, held on Sunday 18 October, making the success of the young sailor from Messina even more significant.
Also noteworthy was the performance of teammate Pietro Moncada Paternò Castello, who finished the competition in fourth place in the general classification. A result that confirms the value of the athlete, fresh from the prestigious title of European vice champion in the same sailing class, and the continuity of the growth path demonstrated over the last two seasons.
The results obtained by the two athletes represent a source of great satisfaction for the Italian Naval League – Messina Section and reward the work done to promote and develop youth sailing, with particular attention to foil boats, the expression of an increasingly technical, spectacular and demanding discipline.
The President and the Board of Directors of LNI Messina expressed satisfaction with the results achieved, underlining the value of the sports project which aims to introduce an ever-increasing number of young people to this specialty. A path made possible also thanks to the contribution and support of generous sponsors, whose contribution is fundamental to offering athletes opportunities for growth, training and comparison in high-level competitions.
