The Council of the Calabria Region, in today’s session, on the proposal of President Roberto Occhiuto, authorized, in view of the overall redefinition of the regional hospital network and the consequent revision of the nephrology and dialysis network, the extraordinary increase of 10 kidney places to be assigned to the Provincial Health Authority of Reggio Calabria.
The new kidney places will be activated in the Municipality of Reggio Calabria with the aim of guaranteeing continuity of care and the principle of proximity of care for kidney patients in the Reggio Calabria metropolitan area, ensuring a more effective response to the growing demand for dialysis services in the area.
The provision also clarifies that the activation of the 10 kidney places constitutes an increase in the allocation assigned to the ASP of Reggio Calabria and does not entail any reduction, suppression or relocation of the kidney places already scheduled at the other dialysis centers, public and private, of the nephrology and dialysis network of the Southern Area identified by DCA n. 103 of 31 March 2023.
