A frank and frank discussion, from which a first concrete result emerged: the willingness of hauliers to ease the blockages to allow the supply of basic necessities and reduce inconvenience for the population.
This is the main outcome of the summit held in the evening at the Prefecture of Reggio Calabria, during which the reasons for the protest and the critical issues affecting the road transport sector were addressed.
The institutional table will remain open and will continue to represent a privileged channel to bring the voice and claims of hauliers directly to Rome, to the attention of the national government. A path of permanent dialogue, aimed at giving continuity to the discussion and encouraging concrete responses to the category’s problems.
The initiative is the first of its kind promoted by an Italian Prefecture, with the specific aim of acting as a spokesperson for operators’ requests to central institutions.
Mayor Francesco Cannizzaro expressed appreciation for the climate of dialogue and for the result achieved, thanking the prefect for his efforts in encouraging discussion between the parties and in identifying a point of balance between the legitimate reasons for the protest and the needs of the community.
