Maxi seizure of over 25 million euros carried out by the Financiers of the Provincial Command of Rome, delegated by the Regional Prosecutor’s Office of the Court of Auditors for Lazio, against five former employees of a “Scratch and Win” concessionaire company (unrelated to the matter). The freezing of assets serves to guarantee compensation for the damage caused to the Customs and Monopolies Agency. The former employees, taking advantage of privileged access to the company servers, had previously identified four winning tickets sent to Italian betting shops: two with the maximum prize of 7 million euros and another two of 5 million each. The coupons were then purchased by relatives and acquaintances, completely eliminating the random component of the game and depriving the State of winnings that under normal conditions might never have been collected. The seals were placed on 25 properties (including apartments, villas, garages and cellars) scattered in the provinces of Rome, Viterbo, Treviso, Taranto, Grosseto and Reggio Calabria, as well as on 5 vehicles including cars and motorbikes and various current accounts. The Council Chamber will now evaluate whether to confirm or revoke the block before the conclusion of the trial.
