In Germany a nine-year-old girl was injured on the tongue by a 5 centimeter pin hidden in a chocolate bar manipulated for Halloween. It happened in Lower Saxony, in the Rotenburg district, according to what Dpa writes, reporting the news disclosed by the local police. Law enforcement officials did not give details on the severity of the injury.
Reports in various Länder
Needles, screws and other small metal objects were found in pre-packaged sweets – chocolate bars, chewing gum, wafers – in several German regions: parents reported it over the weekend. Such cases, according to Dpa, have been reported to the police in Thuringia, Bremen, Baden-Württemberg, Bavaria, Rhineland-Palatinate, Lower Saxony and Schleswig-Holstein, while a finding was also reported in Austria. The alert has spread to the federal level.
The investigations and the appeal for caution
In addition, the police have already stated that the packages intended for children were “intentionally prepared” with hidden objects. The police are investigating attempted dangerous injuries and have appealed for caution when consuming the products collected on 31 October around the streets, in clubs, restaurants and neighbours.
