As part of the institutional control activities of the territory, the Catanzaro Police Commissioner ordered the detention of a foreign citizen irregularly present on the national territory, in respect of whom the conditions established by current legislation for the execution of the expulsion order existed.

The man was taken into care by the Immigration Office of the Public Security Commissioner of Lamezia Terme, which carried out the checks and obligations required by immigration legislation.

From the checks carried out it emerged that the foreigner had already served a sentence for the crimes of complicity in murder, receiving stolen goods and attempted personal injury. These precedents have made it necessary to carry out an in-depth examination of its legal and administrative position.

At the end of the investigation, the Catanzaro Police Commissioner therefore ordered the detention, in order to allow the carrying out of the further obligations required by current legislation, also with reference to the management of the international protection procedure.

Considering the danger of the subject for public order and safety, as well as the potential risk of escape, the man was accompanied to the Repatriation Center (CPR) in Caltanissetta, where he will remain at the disposal of the competent authority for the time necessary to carry out the procedures required by law, including those relating to the examination of the elements underlying the application for international protection presented.
