Yet another episode of violence against ATM Messina staff. This morning, around 8 am, a driver on duty on the southbound shuttle was attacked and injured at the Galati crossroads. According to what has been reconstructed, a violent argument broke out between two passengers on board the vehicle. To safeguard the safety of users and restore calm, the driver stopped the bus in Galati S. Anna and requested the intervention of the police. Before the patrol arrived, one of the contestants punched him in the throat. The operator was rescued by 118 and transferred to the Polyclinic for treatment.
The episode triggered a harsh reaction from the trade unions Filt CGIL, Fit CISL, UIL Trasporti, FAISA CISAL, UGL and ORSA, who in a joint note expressed solidarity with the worker but denounced the intolerable daily insecurity. The unions ask ATM and the institutions for an urgent discussion table for the adoption of concrete protection measures, warning that, in the absence of answers and certain times, the proclamation of a day of strike cannot be ruled out
