Reggina starts to “breathe” again but Marchionni preaches attention

An announced success, against a team in difficulty who, however, managed to hold their own against the league leaders for long stretches. Reggina returned to score five goals, conceding two and showing some cracks in a defensive phase that continues to fail to convince. «This is not good – Marchionni declared in the conference -. I would have expected more attention.”
A shared observation. Also because Ragusa, despite being forced to play with a numerical inferiority, found the spaces and opportunities to worry the amaranth goal. A wake-up call that cannot be ignored, especially in perspective. The defensive mechanisms still show some vulnerability and it will be Marchionni’s job to intervene to correct them. Against opponents of other caliber certain distractions could cost much more dearly.
When analyzing the match, the coach initially opted for the 4-3-3, setting aside the usual formation. Between the posts he gave Lagonigro a rest, giving space to Piras, who put in a decent performance. Four-man defensive line with De Mori, Baldan and Rosario Girasole, the latter with the captain’s armband, while the wild card Toscano acted on the left-handed lane. Used as a low winger, he played the role of a classic fluidizing full-back, with the license to push and participate in the attacking maneuver. However, Alma’s injury changed the plans and forced the coach to review the strategy.
For about twenty minutes Reggina retained their three midfielders, before the arrival of Rotulo led to the switch to 4-4-2: a less modern setup, but guaranteed to be second-hand. The league leaders’ performance, result in hand, was not particularly brilliant.
Towards the away match against Enna, Alma’s conditions need to be assessed, in view of a match which, at least on paper, should not cause particular difficulties for Reggina. It remains to be seen where the game will be played: Niscemi will not be the location, given that the Eccellenza match between Niscemi and Messina is also scheduled for Sunday. The hypothesis that has emerged in the last few hours is Lentini. However, up front there will be a team in obvious difficulty, bringing up the rear and also struggling with economic problems, which however recently held Igea to a 2-2 draw. Woe betide anyone who repeats the attitude shown to Favara. Whoever faces the amaranths is inevitably led to play the classic “game of life”. We will have to sweat until recovery. Marchionni knows this perfectly, just as his players are aware of it.
We’ll see what happens in a week which, after the success against Ragusa, promises to be more serene, but which will also have to be used to better prepare for the next match.
