An average price increase of 1.4%. With spending that grows in terms of value and not volume. This is what was found by theFederconsumatori national observatory in analyzing the costs of typical products close to the Christmas holidays: from gifts to decorations, from Christmas trees to culinary delicacies. The survey highlights an average increase in prices of +1.4% compared to 2023: «A rather limited growth – we read in a note – with differences from sector to sector».
«The data processed by our national observatory and by Federconsumatori Calabria highlight a Christmas with many faceswhere the luxury of tables, gifts and holidays will be a chapter that will concern the wealthiest families.” For Mimma Iannellopresident of Federconsumatori Calabria, there is no doubt: «Calabria’s social data, employment uncertainties, national and international scenarios show the face of uncertainty that weighs on most family budgets and consumption».
The association underlines how in the latest “Social Scoreboard” Eurostat has photographed the disposable income of families in the European Union, allocating the Italian one below the European average: 14% less in 2019, 15, 3% less in 2023. «The thirteenth year will ease the difficulties of many families – we read – but it is estimated that only 18.7 billion euros out of the 51.3 billion in total will be allocated to Christmas holidays, gifts and travel expenses to reach tourist destinations or their families”. The association then places emphasis on the latest social budget of the INPS of Calabria which «indicated an average regional weekly wage of 496.5 euros for 2023, with important differences between public sector workers (720, 03 euro), private (420.4), artisans (344.3), traders (362.6), agricultural (358), domestic (147.2), separate management (476.8), self-employed agricultural (227.6), casual workers (57.4)” and “calculated 102,000 unemployed, 77,911 NEETs and an employment rate of 44.6% against the national average of 61.5%”.
