A community devastated and bent by pain, that of Caronia, but united in a single soul in the embrace of family members, gave its last farewell to Giuseppe Criscì and Domenico Gerbino, victims of the terrible road accident last Thursday in Acquedolci.
The funeral procession which started from the Church of San Biagio, in the heart of Caronia mountain, accompanied by the notes of the town’s musical band, reached the crowded Padre Pio square for the funeral officiated by the parish priest Father Carmelo Scalisi. An emotional crowd, still incredulous and stunned by what had happened, attended the function, at the end of which the mayor of the Nebroid center Giuseppe Cuffari intervened to reiterate to the families the closeness of the entire population.
The words of Domenico Gerbino’s sisters and Giuseppe Criscì’s son were therefore particularly touching. Great emotion and emotion for the message written by Vera, 24-year-old daughter of Giuseppe Criscì and girlfriend of Domenico, who was injured in the accident and is still hospitalized at the Messina Polyclinic. Everyone’s thoughts and prayers are addressed to her, in the hope of a speedy return home. To accompany Giuseppe and Domenico’s last journey, balloons with their initials released into the sky by their friends.
