As part of the activities to combat irregular immigration and implement the measures provided for by current legislation regarding the residence of foreigners, the Catanzaro Police Headquarters carried out the repatriation of a foreign citizen who was the recipient of an obligation to repatriate.
The operation was completed through accompaniment to the Rome Fiumicino air border, from where the foreign citizen was boarded on a direct flight to New Delhi.
The man, already requesting the recognition of international protection, had been reached by a provision of inadmissibility of the application due to manifest unfoundedness, issued by the Territorial Commission for the Recognition of International Protection of Crotone, with simultaneous certification of the obligation to leave the national territory.
Following the definition of the administrative procedure and the checks carried out by the operators of the Third Section of the Immigration Office of the Catanzaro Police Headquarters, the irregular position of the foreign citizen on the territory of the State was ascertained. Alternative measures to detention at a Repatriation Permanence Center (CPR) had previously been applied to him, consisting of the surrender of the passport to the competent authorities and the obligation to periodically present it to the Judicial Police, due to the temporary existence of impediments to the immediate execution of the repatriation.
Once the obstacles that had prevented immediate accompaniment to the border had been removed and the validation of the Justice of the Peace of Catanzaro on the accompanying provision ordered by the Public Security Authority had been acquired, it was possible to proceed with the execution of the repatriation to the country of origin.
The intervention is part of the broader framework of local prevention and control activities carried out by the Catanzaro Police Headquarters, aimed at guaranteeing compliance with immigration legislation and combating any form of irregular stay in the provincial territory.
