The carabinieri of the Melito Porto Salvo Company have a 54-year-old resident in the Arghillà neighborhood was arrestedalready known to the police for a long series of criminal records, with charges ranging from aggravated theft to receiving stolen goods, extortion and damage. As part of the same investigation, coordinated by the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Reggio Calabria under the guidance of Giuseppe Lombardo, The man’s wife and a minor were reported at largebelieved to be his accomplices in at least three thefts committed between June and July of this year.
The investigative activity, launched after the complaints presented by the victims to the Carabinieri of Gallico and Lazzaro, made it possible to unmask a family unit dedicated to theft, in particular of cars and work equipment.
The disputed episodes
The first blow dates back to 11 June, when a red truck was stolen in Reggio Calabria. The vehicle, found a few days later in Arghillà Nord, showed obvious signs of damage, including the forced start cylinder. The images from a surveillance camera were decisive as they immortalized the suspect and two other accomplices as they forced the truck and fled in a car.
A few days later, in the car park of a supermarket in Lazzaro (RC), the subjects aimed at a gray Fiat Panda. Also in this case, the cameras confirmed the involvement of the suspect, supported by a minor. The two had gone to the location in a car rented by the man’s wife.
Finally, another theft was carried out in the Lazzaro hamlet, where thieves stole a mechanical core drill from a van parked on Lungomare Cicerone. Once again, the images immortalized the suspect and an accomplice, who arrived on site in the same car used for the previous attacks.
