«I want to mend this misunderstanding with the CGIL and organize the memory of the Cutro victims on the 25th». Girolamo Arcuri, head teacher of the “Barlacchi-Lucifero” Institute in Crotone, tells ANSA who breaks the silence to explain what happened regarding the lack of authorization to organize a demonstration in memory of the victims of the Cutro shipwreck which occurred on 26 February 2023 and in which 94 people died.

«My school – he explains – has always honored the memory of the Cutro victims by hosting various initiatives. I was the one who contacted the CGIL to ask to organize the demonstration. And I had authorized the event. There is also a device of mine in this sense. I asked my offices to ask CGIL to broaden the debate. Subsequently there was an interpretative error at an administrative level which I regret and I make myself immediately available for the celebration of the event”.
