Traffic Police and Anas have adopted the new Vergilius Plus average speed detection system. Vergilius Plus is an advanced control system, designed to constantly monitor vehicular traffic.

Thanks to advanced cameras, with automatic license plate reading and identification of the vehicle category, the system is able to control the speed of vehicles, inducing motorists to maintain correct behavior and thus reduce the risk of getting into a road accident.

How Vergilius Plus works

The objective of the new, approved system is to regulate traffic, modifying the behavior of drivers, encouraging them to respect the speed limits along the entire route subjected to control.

The streets affected by the checks

The Vergilius Plus system will be managed by the Traffic Police, which will investigate infringements and issue the relevant reports. It will be active on 36 road and motorway sections for a total kilometer length of approximately 211 km, in both directions of travel:
