A serious road accident occurred this morning in Catona around 9.40am (a neighborhood on the northern outskirts of Reggio Calabria). For reasons still under investigation, a car driven by a man over eighty hit a 79-year-old pedestrian.
The elderly man was rescued by doctors and urgently transported to the Grand Metropolitan Hospital of Reggio Calabria, where the doctors, due to the serious injuries sustained, reserved the prognosis. Officers from the local police of Reggio Calabria intervened on site, carrying out investigations aimed at reconstructing the dynamics of the accident and verifying the psycho-physical conditions of the driver. The magistrate on duty was immediately informed of the matter.
