The statements of the ACR Messina coach inevitably had consequences, Giacomo Modicawho pointed the finger at the club but above all the municipal administration, underlining the impossibility of Messina being able to train at the Franco Scoglio stadium. The topic was addressed by city councilor Cosimo Oteriof Gruppo Misto, who wrote to mayor Basile and councilor Finocchiaro.
“It is pleasing that the coach of ACR Messina Giacomo Modica has recovered from the health problems that had recently pushed him to resign irrevocably – writes Oteri – In light of the serious situation experienced by the team and perhaps in an attempt to hide the poor sporting results achieved so far Modica prefers to point the finger at the Basile administration rather than at president Sciotto; so far Modica has not said a word regarding the club’s non-existent signing campaign or the fools that the youth teams continue to make when they are away at due to the insufficient number of players on the pitch”. Considering that the results of the team he coaches are not what was expected at the beginning of the season; that it seems strange that Modica attacks the company and the Basile administration in a heavy manner, with phrases that cannot be overlooked; that it is evident that the club lacks long-term planning and planning, thus leading many fans to temporarily abandon the stadium; that it is not clear what the responsibilities are regarding the sporting result and the role played by the Basile executive in this context”.
Oteri asks Basile and Finocchiaro to give clear and exhaustive answers not only to the fans but also to the entire city regarding the Modica coach’s accusations. And he puts his finger on the wound. Oteri in fact questions the Administration, with two specific questions: “What responsibilities does the Basile administration have on the results of the ACR Messina”. And then he asks “if ACR Messina is up to date with payments and, if this were not the case, How comeaccording to what we learned from the press, in recent years the company has been allowed to accumulate a debt of hundreds of thousands of euros”.
