The objective, only whispered at the moment, is to lead at least 6 of the 17 large centers where proportional voting is held at the end of the electoral round which opens on Sunday. “Entering” the capitals. The results of Monday afternoon will be measured against this target and to achieve it the center-left is bringing the national big names to Sicily. The Democratic Party will be on tour these days with former minister Beppe Provenzano and senator Alessandro Alfieri.
Already yesterday the regional leaders Anthony Barbagallo (Pd), Nuccio Di Paola (5 Stars), Davide Faraone (Italia Viva) and Ismaele La Vardera (Controcorrente) were in Agrigento and then in Carini: two centers in which the broad camp, in the first real electoral test, bets with Michele Sodano and Valeria Gambino trying to exploit the splits in the centre-right.
With polls still to open, the center-left leads only Floridia, Termini Imerese and Carini. The centre-right has 11 outgoing mayors: in Marsala, Villabate, Mislmeri, Milazzo, Barcellona, Augusta, Ispica, Bronte, Ribera and above all Enna and Agrigento. And then there are the civic lists that lead three other centres, primarily Messina.
The center-left’s objective is to “break through” in Enna, despite the Democratic Party having denied the symbol to Mirello Crisafulli and the 5 Stars not having presented the list, and in Agrigento by confirming the three centers already administered. But the game is broader and will also be played in Marsala, where Andreana Patti tries to exploit the splits in the centre-right, and in Lentini.
