“As councilor for local public transport of the Calabria Region, I declare my full availability to resume the path and reactivate the process relating to the Amaco affair from the point at which it was interrupted, following a legitimate offer formulated by a private company for the acquisition of the entire company complex, then revoked by the same Company. I believe that further time has been wasted in recent months. For this reason, the Calabria Region is ready to immediately meet the bankruptcy trustee and, if Cometra confirmed its interest, including the company itself, in order to verify the possibility of reactivating the comparison”. Thus the councilor for local public transport of the Calabria Region, Gianluca Gallo.

“The Region’s objective – highlighted Gallo – remains based on two essential priorities: guaranteeing the continuity of the local public road transport service in the Cosenza area and ensuring full protection of employment levels, safeguarding all the jobs of Amaco employees. Naturally, this process can only be started if the possibility of selling the company to a private entity has definitively ceased”.

“In the meantime, we will ask the bankruptcy trustee – continued Gallo – to suspend any initiative aimed at starting the dismissal procedures. The provisional exercise is in fact authorized until 30 September and, therefore, we do not believe there are reasons to accelerate a process that would lead to the loss of jobs, a prospect that the Region does not share.
Our hope is that a positive solution to the dispute can be defined by September 30th. If this is not possible, the Region is ready to ask the delegated judge for an extension of the provisional exercise, so as to allow the completion of the process aimed at guaranteeing both the continuity of the service and the integral maintenance of employment levels”.

“It is in this spirit – concluded Gallo – that the Calabria Region confirms its commitment to work, together with all the subjects involved, to identify a concrete and definitive solution for the Cosenza public transport company, in the interests of workers, citizens and the territory”.
