Larger and widespread, returning literature of Rome International Festival that in the 2025 edition, dedicated to the theme “Returns” will see among the great guests Azar Nafisi, Eshkol Nevo, Ali Smith and the Booker Prize Jenny Erpenbeck, Georgi Gospodinov, Laszlo Krasznahorkai and Benjamin Labatut. You are the evenings, one more than 2024, on 8-9-11- 13-15 and 16 July at the Palatine and on July 19 at the Ostia Hydroscalon with Nicola Lagioia.
Special tributes to Andrea Camilleri who will be remembered on the centenary of the birth, on July 13 by Chiara Valerio, Antonio Franchini and Alberto Manguel with readings by Michele Riondino and a special surprise. “For the first time, an unprecedented poem of Camilleri, written in 1944, made available by the Camilleri Fund and we will also show images of the manuscript” anticipates Simona Cives, curator of the Festival, will be presented.
Even the tribute to Flannery O’Connor, on the centenary of the birth, will see the reading, on July 15, of an unpublished text created by the actress Isabella Ragonese. “It will be a song from an unpublished diary of the US writer published in Italy by Minimum Fax,” Cives explains. “This year the dates of the Festival are more, we move on to six, to which is added that of 19 July to the Ostia hydroscal. The previews are underway – this evening there will be the one at the jazz house with David Grossman – who recorded extraordinary participation around the city because our goal is to make the festival more and more widespread. The cultural offer is constantly growing.
