Fatal accident on the SS 106, in the municipality of Sellia Marina. The toll is 2 injured, one victim died in hospital. This is Giuseppe Grande, 23 years old.
Two cars were involved in the accident, a Fiat Panda and a Fiat 500. Following the violent impact, the young driver of the Fiat Panda was stuck inside the passenger compartment. The Catanzaro Fire Brigade carried out his extraction using specific equipment for urgent technical rescue, subsequently entrusting him to the medical staff of SUEM 118 who, after initial treatment, arranged for his transfer to hospital in serious condition, where he died. The two occupants of the Fiat 500 were also injured and taken care of by medical personnel.
The Carabinieri intervened on site to carry out their duties and ANAS personnel to restore the normal safety conditions of the road. Traffic was temporarily interrupted to allow rescue operations and subsequently restored at the end of the activities.
