Kimi Antonelli achieved an extraordinary pole position in the Formula 1 Monaco Grand Prix. The young Mercedes driver, the current world championship leader, achieved the best time in qualifying on the streets of the Principality, ensuring he started from first position in one of the most prestigious races on the calendar.

Antonelli preceded Max Verstappen’s Red Bull, which will start from second place, and Lewis Hamilton’s Ferrari, author of the third best time.

Ferrari in the second row

Behind Hamilton was the other Ferrari driver, Charles Leclerc, who will start from fourth position in front of the home crowd. A result that leaves the possibilities open for the Maranello team in view of tomorrow’s race.

Norris only eighth

Further back is the McLaren of world champion Lando Norris, who did not go beyond the eighth fastest time and will be called upon to make a difficult comeback on a circuit where overtaking is traditionally very complicated.

For Antonelli this is a highly prestigious result, obtained on a track that rewards talent, precision and cold blood. The Italian driver will now have the opportunity to transform pole into a victory which could further strengthen his leadership in the world championship.
