It is a frontal political attack launched by the Together we can movement, with the city councilors Andrea Muto and Angelo De Paoli, against the mayor of Aprigliano, Alessandro Porco. The position is entrusted to a long video-story spread on the movement’s social channels, in which the minority faces a series of events defined as “serious and thorny”.

The case of the civil service

At the center of the criticism is first and foremost the management of the civil service. «Following an inspection – say Muto and De Paoli – the Ministry blocked the ongoing projects and removed the Municipality of Aprigliano from the register for five years due to serious irregularities found in the management of volunteers».

According to what is reported in the video, the judiciary would also have intervened in the matter. “The Prosecutor’s Office has opened an investigation to ascertain any responsibilities”, maintain the two minority councilors.

The Municipality’s accounts and the risk of bankruptcy

Another point defined as “sore” concerns the economic-financial situation of the institution. «The Municipality of Aprigliano – they denounce – risks collapse. The debt mass exceeds 3 million euros and to these should be added further certain debts not recognized in the last municipal council, convened precisely for the approval of the budget”.

Lost regional funds and isolation

Muto and De Paoli also point the finger at the loss of regional funding. «Due to the Municipality’s repeated arrears towards the Calabria Region – they say – Aprigliano would have lost important resources, facing progressive institutional isolation».

Silane districts and failed promises

The last thrust is dedicated to the state of the Silane districts. «During the election campaign – they recall – mayor Porco had taken for granted the construction of a reservoir in the Tassitano area. Today that work remains only an unfulfilled promise, to the detriment of agricultural operators.”

According to the minority, the administration’s latest decision also made the situation worse. «In the most recent municipal council – they add – a reduction in expenses for the maintenance of the Silane districts was decided, as if the already evident state of abandonment wasn’t enough».

An overall picture which, according to Insieme si trova, suggests “a very hot year politically” in Aprigliano, with a debate that promises to be close on the issues of administrative legality, public finances and territorial development.
