In this special year, during which the eight hundred years since the death of Saint Francis of Assisi are celebrated, there is an artist from Messina, specialized in sacred art, who acts as a cultural bridge between the Strait and the wonderful birthplace of the patron saint of Italy.

She is Barbara, daughter of the artist Pippo Crea – a painter and set designer well known in the city (also for the scenes for Massimo Mollica, the reproductions of Antonello and the connection with the poet Maria Costa).

Barbara developed her talent for drawing and painting from an early age. He graduated from the “Ernesto Basile” Art Institute in fashion and costumes and, since then, he has collaborated with his father and brothers on the creation of theater scenes and posters. Participate in exhibitions and artistic and religious events in the city such as the exhibition on San Francesco di Paola, the design for the door of the perpetual chapel in San Gabriele dell’Addolorata, the project for the creation of the garden of Misericordia in the Pace district, strongly desired by Father Tonino Schifilliti at the Oasi Madonna del Sorriso, and much more.

He moved to Assisi, a particularly suitable place for studying sacred and landscape art, thanks to the beauty of its medieval pink stone alleys and the atmosphere of peace that can be felt. Here she immediately entered the artistic field, almost all of her works were commissioned, the last one in particular was commissioned by the Compagnia Balestrieri of Assisi for the decoration of the wooden “yew” or dogwood, for the Palio of San Rufino which allowed her visibility. He participates in a collective exhibition in Trevi, in two Christmas exhibitions and is present with his works in an exhibition hall within the city walls. There are many projects he wishes to carry out, but one in particular cannot be missed: bringing the scent of the sea to the Strait.
