The recipients of the Astrea Award, artistically directed by Massimo Mercuri, will be: the Acting Prosecutor of the Republic of Catanzaro Vincenzo Capomolla, who took the reins of the Catanzaro prosecutor’s office after Nicola Gratteri’s transfer to Naples; the Police Commissioner of Vibo Valentia Rodolfo Ruperti, previously leading the Palermo flying squad and before that of Catanzaro; Francesco Tramonte and Pasquale Cristiano will be remembered, the two street cleaners who were innocent victims of the ‘Ndrangheta, killed on 24 May 1991 in Lamezia Terme and whose perpetrators have not yet been identified.
Recognition of the craftsmanship and creativity that have distinguished the activity of the master goldsmith Gerardo Sacco for sixty years, who will receive the Astrea Award.
For sport, three icons of Italian football, Massimo Palanca one of the greatest Italian strikers between the seventies and eighties, with the particularity of having done very well especially with one shirt, that of Catanzaro, establishing a record and also one of the most particular, that of direct goals from corner kicks; Adriano Banelli as a midfielder, played three seasons in Serie A with Catanzaro and one in Reggina in Serie C; another footballer to receive the Astrea Award will be Gaetano Fontana, also a midfielder, first in Catanzaro, his hometown, and then in Ascoli, Fiorentina, Naples and a long career as a coach.
For journalism, the winners will be Raffaella Cosentino of RAI News 24, war correspondent in Israel and Ukraine, specialized in topics such as human rights, migration and mafias, she has worked for important newspapers including the BBC, L’Espresso, Repubblica; Arcangelo Badolati, head of the newspaper “Gazzetta del Sud” and author of numerous publications on criminal deviances and Calabrian mysteries, has followed, over the last twenty years, the most important trials celebrated in Calabria.
For the show, the award will be given to actor and director Max Mazzotta, born and raised in Cosenza. He made his film debut in 1998 with L’ultimo capodanno by Marco Risi, and then continued in several other films for both cinema and television.
A representative of the Regional Council of Calabria was present and will be rewarded for the work with which it is administering the Calabrian territory.
