The 66th Genoa International Boat Show ends today, which from 1st to 6th October hosted the participation of the Calabria Region with a program of meetings, activities and moments of discussion dedicated to the sea, boating, ports and territories.
Over the course of the six days, the regional space represented a meeting point to present the Calabrian coastal heritage, the realities linked to boating and ports and the experiences that connect the sea to the different dimensions of the territory.
The participation in Genoa took place in a particularly significant phase for Calabria. In the days immediately preceding the Show, in fact, the Region approved the update of the Master Plan of tourist ports, strengthening a planning line oriented towards the construction of a more organic and widespread network of ports and landing places and greater involvement of the territories.
The theme of ports has therefore found a natural space for discussion in the Show, linking regional programming with an international event dedicated to boating and the sea system.
In this context, the Porto delle Grazie in Genoa was the theme at the center of Marina Dialogues, the meeting, which was attended by local administrators, sector representatives and political leaders, focused on the role of tourist ports in the growth of the Italian Blue Economy. Vasco De Cet, sole administrator of Porto delle Grazie, presented the vision of the Roccella Ionica marina as an example of integration between port, territory and development policies: transforming rest areas into integrated, sustainable and attractive destinations for tourist flows and investments.
At the Genoa Boat Show there will also be space for the Sibari Lakes with the president of Assolaghi, Luigi Guaragna, to affirm the desire to stay in the contexts that matter, where relationships are built, experiences are compared and the future prospects of boating and ports are outlined.
The podcasts “Let’s give a voice to Calabria” recorded during the days of the Show and hosted by the manager of the regional Tourism department, Roberto Cosentino, in which all the guests of the “Calabria Extraordinaria. Everything starts from the sea” stand enjoyed considerable success.
According to the general managers of the regional departments of Work and Tourism, Fortunato Varone and Roberto Cosentino, “The participation of the Calbria Region in the Genoa Boat Show has made it possible to link the institutional dimension with that of the operators and realities that make up the nautical system, creating opportunities for discussion on the themes of tourism development, the valorisation of the coast and the opportunities linked to the sea economy.
The event offered Calabria a space for discussion with a sector in which the region intends to strengthen its valorisation path, through greater integration between ports, boating, tourism and territories.
It was an opportunity to connect ports, sailing, tourism and territories, enhancing the sea as one of the strategic resources on which to build new development opportunities for Calabria.
For Calabria, the Genoa Boat Show thus represents a stage in a broader journey: bringing the sea to the center of the strategies for valorising the region and strengthening the connections between the coast and the territorial system that takes shape from it”.
In the institutional stand of the Calabria Region there were the Confartigianato trade associations, with the regional general secretary Silvano Barbalace, with the representatives of Brettium Boat, Nautic Diving and Blumare – Cantiere Navale; Casartigiani, with the regional secretary Carmelo Francesco Giordano; CNA Nautica Calabria, represented by Anna Polimeni.
For the port system, the Municipality of Roccella Ionica – Porto delle Grazie and the Sibari Lakes Association.
