Bitterness and disdain expressed by the principal of the Bisazza high school, Caterina Celesti, in the aftermath of the vile attack on a student by two peers who snuck into the school building before the end of the lessons. “A serious thing that shouldn’t have happened, we are close to the girl and her family and we will do everything to identify those responsible.”

The head teacher then continues…

“These two girls broke in, taking advantage of the moment in which some of the students were leaving, and it all happened very quickly. However, we are taking all possible measures and precautions. My sympathy goes to our student, victim of this situation. Fortunately, the teachers and collaborators intervened promptly, preventing things from getting worse.

Also because it is difficult to enter this school: we too noticed that the gates are locked.
“Yes, we have several gates and external video surveillance systems. Basile is a particular school, being an artistic high school: the kids often move from one laboratory to another and there is always a lot of movement within the institute.”

Have you heard from the parents of the girl who was the victim of the attack?
“Yes, we contacted them to express our closeness and to get news on the girl’s condition. We are available to the family for any need. Among other things, when the incident occurred, the parents were right here.”

What does she have left of this day? What is the feeling with which you came to school today? And what will happen now?
The paradox is that we always do a lot of training. Just today a conference was scheduled – and unfortunately it started without me – on bullying, cyberbullying and youth distress, problems that we experience every day at school. A lot of participation is needed, including from families: school-family collaboration is fundamental. We would like to expand these projects not only to students, but also to parents.”

Have you filed a complaint?
“We did what was necessary and necessary to do.”

Have the police already acquired the video surveillance images?
“We have reported everything. I assume that the acquisition of the images will take place as soon as possible.”
