Three people arrested for yesterday’s attack on a synagogue in southern Francewhere an individual carrying a Palestinian flag and wearing a keffiyeh set fire to two cars parked in front of the place of worship. One of them, containing a gas cylinder, exploded, slightly injuring a municipal police officer who had been called by residents.
In a video surveillance image authenticated by AFP, a man can be seen with his face uncovered and a Palestinian flag around his waist, from which what appears to be the butt of a gun protrudes. He is wearing a red keffiyeh and is holding a plastic bottle filled with a yellowish liquid in each hand. According to sources close to the investigation, he then ran away from the scene. In the evening, outgoing Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin announced that the main suspect had been arrested by the Raid, an elite unit of the French police, after a firefight with officers. The French anti-terrorism agency (Pnat) later reported that two people from his entourage were taken into police custody.
