False emails in the name of the bishop of the diocese of Cassano allo Ionio and vice-president of the CEI, Monsignor Francesco Savino, requesting the sending of sums of money to be allocated to the alleged needs of some religious communities.
It is the attempted computer fraud reported by the diocese of Cassano through an official note, signed by the vicar general Don Annunziato Laitano, which states that “anyone who receives this message is strongly requested not to open it and to trash it directly”. The diocese specifies that the sender of the fraudulent emails is the address (email protected). The alert does not only concern the risk of cash outlay. The vicar general warns, in fact, that the email could contain computer viruses or hide hacking attempts to steal sensitive data from the recipients.
