The Israeli army has urged Iranians not to take the train today and until 9pm Iranian time (6.30pm Italian time, ed.) because this “puts your lives in danger”. «Urgent notice for users and passengers of trains in Iran – we read on the IDF’s Farsi channel X -. Your presence on trains and near railway lines puts your lives in danger.”
Crosetto: “It’s the hardest crisis. Hiroshima taught us nothing”
“I hope that everyone realizes what we are experiencing. It is a situation that is unprecedented in the history of recent decades. There is a sum of critical issues that accumulate and feed on themselves, increasingly difficult to resolve. And this places those who want to think face to face with the great weakness of multilateralism, which has not been able to take lessons from what had happened in the last century and has not consolidated the antibodies for what we are experiencing now”. This is the thought of the Minister of Defense, Guido Crosetto, in an interview with Corriere della Sera. “I fear that what is already dramatic could precipitate even more. Because I know that humanity has shown us that there is no limit to madness. Do you think that it is human beings like us who decided that even Hiroshima and Nagasaki were acceptable to end a conflict. Unfortunately we continue to have nuclear weapons and those who don’t have them are looking for them. We haven’t learned anything. Real nuclear threat? I don’t even want to say the word. The risk is madness and what we are experiencing is a conflict where action corresponds to reaction of a higher level.”
Iran has so far rejected all US proposals.

The Iran of the ayatollahs, at the head of the anti-Western fundamentalism, which held every freedom in check, was everyone’s problem. With this war decided by two people without comparison and international legitimacy, less approximation would have been useful – continues Crosetto – Europe does what it can but it doesn’t seem successful an important and serious position when he said not to share this war, trying to limit the damage”https://gazzettadelsud.it/articoli/mondo/2026/04/07/teheran-catene-umane-attorno-alle-centrali-elettriche-crosett o-hiroshima-has-taught-us-nothing-the-doubts-about-khamenei-and-unconscious-471d54f4-eda0-48fc-aa9c-c126cfdbf72c/.”Italy it is not an ally of Trump or Biden, we are allies of the United States. If there were no NATO defense, every country would risk much more and be much more defenseless.” On Trump’s words regarding leaving NATO: “I don’t think so and he can’t do it. He would need the vote of Congress and I doubt he would be in favor. He could instead decide to withdraw soldiers from Europe. And this would make us weaker, less defended. At this moment we are not able to react all together by replacing them.”
On the suspicion of having allowed the use of the Sigonella base on some occasions: Will I deny it in Parliament? I will certainly deny it because it is false but I don’t think there is any suspicion because it is not a political issue but a military one. We have the obligation to leave the bases open because the treaties provide for this and because all governments have behaved in the same way, but we have rules. These are agreements that we did not sign, if our predecessors didn’t like them they could have canceled them or at least questioned them. I don’t know that this happened.”
Finally, on the political issue of reshuffle or early elections, Crosetto responds: “Held. We are obliged to hold on because we can afford anything at the moment, except a crisis. I would say so whoever was in government. It would be easier and certainly much more convenient for us to go to early elections. Instead we have the duty to manage the crisis resulting from the conflict and therefore to remain”.
