Antonio Pannace, held responsible for the attempted murder of Giuseppe Meddis, which occurred on 28 September 2024 in San Gregorio d’Ippona, was sentenced to six years and nine months in prison.
According to the reconstruction, Pannace fired three gunshots at close range, one of which hit Meddis in the thigh, causing him serious injuries. The episode was filmed by surveillance cameras, which documented the defendant’s action.
In addition to the crime of attempted murder, Pannace was also charged with carrying an illegal weapon in a public place, which was then handed over to the police upon arrest.
The judge of the preliminary hearing in Vibo Valentia, Dr. Francesca Loffredo, excluded the aggravating circumstance of abject and frivolous reasons, accepting the defense’s theory. The public prosecutor, Dr. Barnabei, had requested a 14-year prison sentence.
Pannace is assisted by the lawyer Diego Brancia, while the civil party, Giuseppe Meddis, is represented by the lawyer Sorbilli.
