Geopolitical tensions weigh on bags and in Europe the session start is in red after American president Trump has declared that he has returned to Washington to monitor events in the Middle East directly from the situation room.
Paris opens 0.7%, Frankfurt of 0.86% and London by 0.45 percent. The Milan stock exchange also opens down 0.65%. The FTSE MIB index yields 0.65% to 39,668 points. Pesano Unipol (-1.12%), Generali (-1%) and Hera (-1.4%).
Lagarde: it is the hour of the global euro, but a decisive action is needed
“This is the moment of the global euro”. But “a wider international role will not take place for inertia: it must be conquered”. The president of the European Central Bank, Christine Lagarde, writes it, in an editorial today on the Financial Times, in which he asks for decisive actions and outlines the conditions to allow the single currency to strengthen himself as a global reference currency. But “so that the euro can reach its full potential, Europe must strengthen three fundamental pillars: geopolitical credibility, economic resilience and legal and institutional integrity”.
