Late this morning, at approximately 12.50 pm, the Reggio Calabria Fire Brigade received a report from a citizen present in the town of Bagaladi (RC). The man reported that his brother, who had gone into a wooded area for an excursion (probably in search of mushrooms), had not shown up for the appointment at the agreed point.
The search protocol for the missing person was therefore activated immediately. The Fire Brigade managed to establish telephone contact with the missing person, acquiring the GPS coordinates useful for locating. At the same time, the Melito Porto Salvo team was sent to the site and air support from the Drago VF68 helicopter of the Lamezia Terme Flight Department was requested.
At 2.10pm the helicopter crew identified the missing person and proceeded with recovery operations using a winch. The intervention ended with the recovery of the man, in good condition. Carabinieri from Bagaladi station are on site within their respective jurisdiction.
