Brothers of Italy, Forza Italia and Noi Moderati have decided that they will not present any list in view of the next elections for the renewal of the Provincial Council of Vibo Valentia after the resignation on 14 October of 7 out of 10 councilors who claimed “political visibility” and were appointed by the president of the body Corrado L’Andolina. Instead, the UDC and a unitary list (and distinct from the UDC) will be presented by the centre-left (Pd, Avs and M5S), although in this coalition there are representatives of the Democratic Party such as the councilor of the Municipality of Vibo, Stefano Soriano, and the municipal councilor of Zambrone, Mariella Epifanio, who have invited the Democratic Party not to participate in the elections. The president of the body, Corrado L’Andolina (who is currently also mayor of Zambrone), always a socialist, was elected as an expression of Forza Italia, only to be politically dumped after failing to appoint some councilors recommended by the party as councillors. Previously Forza Italia had indicated 2 other presidents of the Province: Andrea Niglia and Salvatore Solano, both of whom expired after the dissolution of their respective Municipalities due to mafia infiltration (Briatico and Stefanaconi).
The elections for the renewal of the Provincial Council are second level as not all citizens but only the mayors and municipal councilors of the area will be called to the polls (after the Del Rio reform). Nominations for provincial councilor must be submitted by today as well as the lists that intend to compete for the renewal of the provincial council which remains distinct from the election of the president of the body who remains in office regardless of the composition of the council
