Promote reflection and discussion on gender violence through an innovative perspective, namely the male one: this is the objective of “Beyond the canvas – Men in dialogue against violence”, the initiative promoted by the Banca Montepaone Foundation with the FIDAPA Catanzaro Section, always committed to the promotion of equal opportunities and the full development of women in civil, cultural and professional life. Close to the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, on Saturday 22 November, at 10 am, the spaces of the Catanzaro branch, in Piazza Matteotti, will be transformed into a place of meeting and authentic dialogue on the role of men in building a society founded on respect, responsibility, listening and gender equality. Introduced by greetings from Giovanni Caridi, president of the Banca Montepaone Foundation, Annarita Palaia, president of Fidapa – Catanzaro Section, Wanda Ferro, Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of the Interior, and Donatella Monteverdi, councilor for culture of the Municipality of Catanzaro, overcoming stereotypes and silences, there will be speeches by men representing the institutions, concretely committed to the prevention and protection of victims of violence: the prefect of Catanzaro, Castrese De Rosa, the commissioner of Catanzaro, Giuseppe Linares, and the provincial commander of the Carabinieri of Catanzaro, Giovanni Pellegrino. The round table will be enriched by the testimony of the daily commitment of the CUAV, the Center for Male Perpetrators of Violence of the Calabrian Solidarity Centre, represented by the president Isolina Mantelli and the manager Cristina Marino.

A mix of stories, experiences and sensitivities will mark the event which aims to weave a new web of relationships based on equality, awareness and the culture of respect. There will be no shortage of artistic language: “we strongly believe in art as a tool for collective growth and civil awareness” states the president of the Banca Montepaone Foundation, always attentive to social and cultural themes, presenting the temporary exhibition of the artist Sonia Bellezza, which will be inaugurated on this occasion, inside the Catanzaro branch. Curated by Giuseppe Giglio, art historian and critic, the exhibition is composed of intense and symbolic works by one of the most sensitive and original painters of the Calabrian scene, which tells of the strength and fragility of the female world, inviting a path of awareness “beyond the canvas”, towards the recognition of the value and dignity of women.
