“We have never asked to join the council nor is it on the agenda.” This is clarified by the leader of South calls North, Cateno De Luca, compared to a Monday in Palermo in which there was only “one meeting” (but it was not said with whom) during which the line on the hundred proposals presented by ScN in the context of the next stability law was reiterated.
“Schifani’s majority – added De Luca – will have the possibility of drawing a line, an opening towards a responsible opposition or a closure. It will be a choice. The opposition has also made a choice, by not inviting us to the feast of San Martino”. Even knowing, he added, “that the center-left in Sicily without Cateno De Luca will never win”.
In any case there is one certainty: “In 2027 we will be in a coalition”. Which? On paper “anything can happen”. De Luca also explained what the “liberation government” he has been talking about in recent days will be: “In January we will present the council of the mayor of Sicily, men and women who have specific expertise in the areas of the individual departments. The task of this council will be to develop the reforms deemed essential, from healthcare to local authorities”.
De Luca spoke about it in the now usual press conference on Tuesday morning at Palazzo Zanca, during which the point was made about school buildings for nursery schools (“From 3 nursery schools in 2018 we have gone to 26 already active – which are 7 – under construction and already financed to be built”, underlined the mayor Federico Basile and the deputy mayor Salvatore Mondello) and Massimo Rizzo, former city councilor since 2018 to 2022 with LiberaMe (the list that referred to the Navarra group) and that in 2027 he will be a candidate on the Basile list for mayor. “In 2018 we decided to act as a responsible opposition – said Rizzo -, reaching the approval of the rebalancing plan, now we need to raise the bar”.
