“In terms of presences and consumption on the beach, the month of July was worst in June”. This was stated by Antonio Capacchione, president of the Italian seaside union participating in Fipe/Confcommercio, explaining that the data that arises from a first budget of the bathing season carried out on the basis of the perception of our associates.
“If on the one hand in June we recorded an overall increase in presences and consumption equal to about 20%, compared to the same period last year – it is reflection – on the contrary in July the overall reduction, always in terms of presences and consumption, was about 15% (with peaks of 25% in Calabria and Emilia -Romagna), vice versa, also a positive sign this month in Sardinia and Puglia.
On our coasts – continues Capacchione – we have found more foreign tourists against a decrease in Italians, confirming the attractiveness of our country in the international holiday market, also thanks to the multiplicity of the services offered, appreciated, efficient, successful and, above all, of quality. As in previous years, the presence on the beach have mainly concentrated on the weekend as proof of an economic difficulty of Italian families ». And he concludes: «For foreign presences which, therefore, have a specific weight than the Italian ones, we have recorded less German and more tourists from the Scandinavian countries and Eastern Europe. Ultimately, the first 2 months of the summer 2025 offered a photograph of the suffering of the internal tourist demand and some European countries which, traditionally, characterized the season of holidays in Italy “.
