The great dance returns to the ancient theater of Taormina in the sign of Vincenzo Bellinicertainly the most loved and most famous composer in Sicily. Tomorrow, starting at 9 pm, a special dance evening will be staged entitled already evocative: Belliniana, Divine Dancing melodies, a special project designed and produced by the Bellinian Festival Foundation of Catania, dedicated to Vincenzo Bellini and the dance that has drawn inspiration from its immortal melodies and which during the history has inspired great choreographers from the most diverse experiences and traditions.
A gala that will bring together numerous dancers from all over the world and some of the most prestigious companies on the American and European scene, such as the New York City Ballet, Les Etolies du Monde, the Teatro alla Scala in Milan, the Paris Opera, the Het National Ballet, the Rudra Bejart Lausanne, the Ballet AM Rhein, the Duisburg Theater, just to name a few, A rich program of choreography dedicated to the encounter between the dancing language of the body and the melodies of Vincenzo Bellini, with a tribute to other great Italian operaists such as Gaetano Donizetti and Gioachino Rossini.
The entire program takes inspiration and revolves around the 200th anniversary which occurs this year from the composition and debut of Adelson and Salvini, the first work made up of Vincenzo Bellini, represented in 1825 at the Teatrino of the San Sebastiano Conservatory in Naples.
The evening, among the numerous choreographies of various songs and symphonies, will also propose songs from works such as the sleepwalker, with the famous choreography of Balanchine Night Shadow by Ferdinand Hérold, on the booklet by Eugène Scube and Jean Pierre Muner, from the norm, with “Casta Diva” sung by Maria Callas, from the Pirate and the Capulets and the Montecchi, The respective symphonies, and numerous other arias and songs, including the symphony in King Maggiore always of Bellini, rarely performed and interpreted.
The initiative is created with the support and collaboration of the cultural realities of the territory such as the Municipality of Taormina and the Ministry of Culture, it is also enriched by exhibitions and debates with the load -bearing theme Divine Melodie, divine choreography created by Domenick Giliberto, with projections, debates, meetings and installations.
