A meeting within the EU is scheduled during the week to formulate a plan of measures to respond to the possibility of a failure to agreement with the USA. This was reported by the Bloomberg agency, emphasizing that preference is to keep the negotiations with Washington on track for a negotiated solution before the expiry of 1 August.
The EU has already approved potential duties for 21 billion in response to the tariffs on metals, and a further list with an additional 72 billion products to respond to mutual duties and cars. An increasing number of Member States wants the activation of the anti-coercion tool.
